The garden is being constructed in greatly contrasting styles so that the small front dais becomes a Potted Cottage garden and the large back garden transforms to a Japanesque style, which in turn, connects to Woodland on the south side. Voluptuous and haphazard is the Cottage garden planting style with floriferous, seasonal plants especially annuals and herbaceous perennials busily intermixed with old-fashioned climbers and shrubs
Japanese garden plantings rely on subtle differences in texture in soothing shades of green. Architectural forms are important and well-placed, restrained amounts of colour that mark the seasons .
Shade and shelter is the hallmark of the Woodland garden planting style dominated by evergreens and deciduous autumn colour from trees and shrubs, combined with wildflowers and spring bulbs
