Plant Wishlist

The garden is being constructed in greatly contrasting styles so that the small front dais becomes a Potted Cottage garden and the large back garden transforms to a Japanesque style, which in turn, connects to Woodland on the south side. Bit by bit, I’m drawing up a list of plants that I may wish to use for each planting style (and keeping a list of suppliers that ususally stock these plants :-

Voluptuous and haphazard is the Cottage garden planting style with floriferous, seasonal plants especially annuals and herbaceous perennials busily intermixed with old-fashioned climbers and shrubs

Japanese garden plantings rely on subtle differences in texture in soothing shades of green. Architectural forms are important and well-placed, restrained amounts of colour that mark the seasons .

Shade and shelter is the hallmark of the Woodland garden planting style dominated by evergreens and deciduous autumn colour from trees and shrubs, combined with wildflowers and spring bulbs
