
The Japanesque garden: Most of the garden lies behind the Annexe on a raised level with a West facing slope. Before any planting can be done there needs to be several hard landscaping alterations and additions that include:
adjust and equalize the risers on the steps up to the raised lawnrenovate a dilapidated green house on the south side adjacent to the woodlandbuild and pave a level platform for the greenhouse to stand onconstruct 2-3 wooden steps down to the willow boundary hedge on the North sideconstruct a wooden platform over a steep gap by the willow boundary hedgecreate a pre-formed bog/marsh garden adjacent to this platform as overflow for a cascadeafter clearance, cut two temporary terraces into the rockery slopebuild paved steps from the side of the greenhouse & down to the willow boundary hedge on the south sidelay paving along the mixed boundary hedge on the east sideconstruct a water cascade in the rockery slopeput in top and lower ponds to feed the cascade- plumb the ponds and put in solar panels and wind turbine
put in a marsh garden below the lower pond to take the overflow- wall the rest of the sloped rockery & ornamental garden terrace
- put wood retaining walls in top and bottom veg garden slope
remove turf from raised lawnand replace with gravel and steppingstonesoutline garden beds besides gravelled areaplace open fencing along the raised lawn edges with wood or bamboo- put in hand rails for south side steps and entry level steps
- design and construct a small Japanese style tea house as seating area
- construct a wooden ‘sunburst’ to screen the greenhouse
- construct a Tori style entry gate to the garden at the east side of the annexe
- place water barrels behind it to collect water from the greenhouse roof
The Woodland garden: Beyond the greenhouse on the south side is an open area that is to be divided between Japanese and English woodland
dig two garden beds for Japanese woodland plantingdisguise the long lower compost area with natural hedging- construct a clapper style gate at entry to the English woodland
plant native woodland flowers and bulbs beyond the clapper gate boundary- construct wooden steps along the sloping path through the trees
- construct and place a bench on left side of the woodland path
The Cottage Garden: On the front of the Annexe is a North facing concrete dais for potted plants
